Almost every “small battery” sold worldwide is one of two chemistries: carbon zinc (zinc-chloride) or alkaline. Both run in AA, AAA, C, D and 9V — but they are engineered for different jobs, and a mixed shelf usually sells more than a single line.
Carbon zinc: the value line for low-drain devices
Carbon zinc cells are the classic budget battery. In a clock, radio or remote control — devices that draw a small current for a long time — a carbon zinc cell performs reliably and costs a fraction of an alkaline cell.
Realistic shelf spots: entry-level private labels, promotional packs, gift baskets and any market segment where price drives the decision. TIANQIU’s carbon zinc range covers AA/AAA in 2, 4, 8, 10 and 16 pcs shrink packs — with 40 pcs per box for the 2S/4S formats.
Alkaline: capacity where it counts
Alkaline cells hold roughly 3–4× the capacity of equal-size carbon zinc cells and cope far better with the pulses of high-drain devices: toys, flashlights, photo flashes, game controllers.
At TIANQIU the ultra-alkaline line is built on imported Japan Mitsubishi automatic lines with a laser seal structure — the result is the standard package of premium alkaline: high capacity, low internal impedance, a smooth discharge curve and long service life. Every cell is 0% mercury with no mercury added, marked on the pack.
Super heavy duty sits in the middle
Between them, the “super heavy duty” zinc-chloride family offers higher performance than standard carbon zinc at a still-budget price — a strong option for supermarket chains that want a step-up line without jumping to alkaline pricing.
A practical shelf strategy
- Two tiers, one supplier — source carbon zinc for the price tier and alkaline for the quality tier from one factory to simplify logistics and paperwork.
- Match the pack to the fixture — shrink 2S–16S for pegs, paper packs for gondola ends, counter displays for impulse checkouts.
- Use the chemistry story as the label — “long lasting power” and “0% Hg” marks are already on the packs and carry to your own branding.
